From Nonprofit to For-Profit: How Scoopable Ice Cream Aims to Change the Community
As a mother of three wonderful children, one with Autism and another with Down syndrome, my journey has been marked by compassion and an unwavering commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our family's experience has inspired me to dream of a community where acceptance is just the beginning, and where every individual's unique abilities are cherished and valued. It's with this vision in mind that I took the leap from running a nonprofit to venturing into the for-profit world, opening ScoopAble Ice Cream.
The Transition from Nonprofit to For-Profit
Starting as a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities was an incredible experience. It allowed me to contribute to a cause close to my heart and make a positive impact on the community. However, I realized that true empowerment comes with sustainable, meaningful employment opportunities. I wanted to venture into the for-profit sector not just for financial gain, but to open doors for individuals with intellectual disabilities, providing genuine and fulfilling work experiences.
